Special Experience in Fire Retardant Wood
The professional staff of CSE has extensive experience regarding
fire-retardant treated (FRT) wood. Our experience includes visual
surveys of thousands of wood trusses and hundreds of tests to
evaluate the physical properties of FRT wood after years of service.
Additionally, CSE engineers have performed independent research of
FRT on wood strength properties and are developing test methods for
in-situ testing for FRT wood products. Our research also includes collection of temperature and humidity data from buildings in
the south eastern United States and evaluation of test data from hundreds of
wood samples collected from existing buildings that represent various
