Specialized Services

Special Experience in Fire Retardant Wood
The professional staff of CSE has extensive experience regarding fire-retardant treated (FRT) wood.  Our experience includes visual surveys of thousands of wood trusses and hundreds of tests to evaluate the physical properties of FRT wood after years of service.   Additionally, CSE engineers have performed independent research of FRT on wood strength properties and are developing test methods for in-situ testing for FRT wood products.  Our research also includes collection of temperature and humidity data from buildings in the south eastern United States and evaluation of test data from hundreds of wood samples collected from existing buildings that represent various manufacturers and years of service.  The depth of experience and information available to CSE engineers makes CSE one of the most capable engineering firms in the south east regarding this subject.

Natural Disaster Investigations
CSE engineers have extensive experience in evaluating all types of natural disasters for our insurance clients. Our evaluations have included damages associated with wind, flood, fire and hail. Our evaluations typically include the determination of the source of the damage, the extent of damage and recommendations for repair. With rapid response and timely reporting CSE is a excellent match for those unfortunate natural disasters that occur all too often.

Deficient Construction
CSE staff professionals are experienced in evaluating construction projects to determine the extent of defects. Specifically, our engineers are retained on a routine basis to perform evaluations for both plaintiff and defense clients. Our evaluations typically include an assessment of building code requirements, industry standards and manufacturer's instructions. Our balanced and practical approach to these issues has allowed us to deliver effective results for all client types.
